I came across an interesting story yesterday. Allegedly, after years of disputes with different neighbors Barry Ardolf, a computer expert sent a threatening message to Vice President Joe Biden through is unsecured Wi-Fi Router. In addition, he also creating phony email accounts and a MySpace page complete with porn. For the complete story click here http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/06/14/ardolf_charged/
Folks if there’s one thing I recommend, it’s securing your wireless routers. Not only will it protect you from these types of things it can also help security-wise. An unsecured wireless router is like leaving your front door open. It’s your first step in securing your online presence. In addition, a complete wireless survey could also improve your wireless connection. If your neighbors are using the same channel (think CB radio) they could be slowing down or interfering with your connection. Find out if you’re secure and using the best channel possible.
